Today, Americans all over the world will celebrate our Independence Day. A day that is signified by traditional cookouts, being with family, friends and of course fireworks! But I woke up today asking myself a fundamental question about the significance of this day. What does Independence Day mean to me?

Independence is individualistic. Independence is choice. Unlike other cultures, societies and governing entities, we have been afforded the ultimate right as human beings to chose. Given the situation, this is a very powerful bounty.

I often talk about ideas or situations that are in our control, out of our control and that grey area around direct control which we can influence outcomes . Our ability to chose potential outcomes should be celebrated - especially today! The ability to chose is independence. Happy Independence Day!
