30 seconds rest
(below is a repost from 11-08-09)
I have heard from some people and have also read that CF increases injuries in athletes.  I would like to say a few things on that topic:
  1. Improper technique; increases the risk of injury.
  2. Poor programming; increases the risk of injury.
  3. Inadequate recovery; increases the risk of injury.
  4. A poor nutrition pattern; increases the risk of injury.
  5. Failing to check your ego at the door; increases the risk of injury.
  6. Failure to allow for neuromuscular adaptation; increases the risk of injury.
  7. Poorly coached classes; increase the risk of injury.
  8. Failure to do the entire warm-up increases the risk of injury.
  9. Not recognizing the signs of over-training; increases the risk of injury.
  10. Fitness is a sport and participating in any sport; increases the risk of injury.

I’m not breaking balls with this post. I think it is important to address the facts.  People can get injured while exercising.  At ECC, safe lifting, quality programming, in addition to meeting each athlete at their current skill level are vital components that are ongoing. I have been doing this for close to a decade and know that keeping athletes healthy, educated, safe and (most importantly) performing is the best tool for continued success to ensure longevity in the fitness industry.
